Sometimes you need new workout gear, well and a beautiful tropical destination. to feel inspired. I picked up this fun subtle palm print workout set prior to my trip to Fairmont Mayakoba as I knew we would be exploring the property, riding bikes, and hopefully doing a little yoga.
I spent some time during the early morning hours, on one of my first days there, meditating and soaking in the beautiful quiet around me. It was so peaceful and relaxing.
This particular spot overlooks a beautiful canal on property and there was no one else at the pool at the time...talk about solace! I also spent the morning exploring a Cenote! I've included my full recap HERE, in the case you want to read my review of the gorgeous Fairmont Mayakoba.
How do you stay inspired with your workout routines? Is it buying new workout gear, a change of scenery, a new play list?
As always, thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!
Managing stress better has been a goal of mine this year. Sometimes I manage it well and sometimes the stress that I am feeling consumes me. What I consider stressful may be very different from what you consider stressful just as I may handle it differently than you do. But there are things that we all can do to help manage and keep our stress levels under control.
This year has particularly been a very stressful year so far at work. For those that don't know, I work full time in HR for a Fortune 500 company in addition to blogging full time. And obviously #1 job is being a great Momma to my littles. At times, the stress that "work" creates carries over into my home life. In times like these, I quickly realize that I need to hone in on doing things that help me relieve some of that stress.
Exercising has play a significant role in helping me relieve stress...physically, mentally, & emotionally. Outside of my normal workout routines, I've started practicing a bit more yoga as well as deep breathing techniques, which have certainly helped. Taking 10-15 minutes to stretch during my day has helped me relieve stress & refocus. And any time that I am feeling particularly stressed throughout my workday, I will step away and do some deep breathing exercises or go for a walk with our pups.
Spending time outdoors has been a great way for me to seperate myself from stressful moments and recenter. Vitamin D is so good for you and just sitting outside for 10-15 minutes, getting a little sunshine and breathing in fresh air, is such a nice way to release stress.
Planning ahead as much as possible has also helped me manage my stress levels. There are times where you just won't be able to plan ahead and something may happen that throws you for a loop so being flexible is essential to being able to handle those surprise scenarios. After all, life wouldn't be near as exciting if every single minute of every single day was planned out.
At the end of my day, I almost always take a hot bath and allow myself quiet time with no distractions. I truly feel like I am doing something for myself and giving myself the opportunity to unwind and reflect on my day. And if I'm feeling particularly tense, I will add some epsom salts to help relax me and extract those toxins.
These are just a few of the things I do to manage stress. I'd love to hear from you...what do you do to manage and relieve your stress?!
Hope you all have had a great week so far and as always thanks so much for stopping by!
JACKET C/O || TEE C/O || DENIM C/O (CHECK YOUR LOCAL OLD NAVY STORE...I'VE LINKED SIMILAR HERE) || BOOTS
I was so excited to be able to shoot this look right outside of our home...we are getting settled in nicely and soaking in all of the newness! I'll be sharing more peeks into our home very soon as I have some fun projects coming up. So stay tuned!
In the meantime, I wanted to share with you a couple of hot trends right now...utility jackets and patchwork denim! Utility jackets can be worn all Fall/Winter long...pair it with a tee like I've done for early Fall wear or wear it over your favorite sweaters in the Winter months. However you choose to wear it, a utility jacket is a versatile piece that truly goes with everything. The one I'm wearing is from Old Navy and it is under $50!
Patchwork denim is also on trend right now! I was on the hunt for the perfect pair and I was lucky enough to find these at Old Navy as well. These are a boyfriend fit and I just love the darker denim patchwork detail! I will say that I had to have a sales associate help me locate my size because there were very few pairs left. I tried to find these online for you all but did not have any luck. So check with your local Old Navy store! I've also found a similar pair HERE!
Staying on trend does not require spending a lot of money. I recommend picking a few pieces each season that you know you will get a lot of wear out of! You can never go wrong with jackets and jeans!
Hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend and as always, thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!
When it comes to rompers, I must admit that I'm a big fan! The fit has to be just right though and the length of the romper cannot be too short. This adorable olive green romper from Old Navy fits perfectly and the length is just right as well.
Not only do I LOVE the way this romper fits but I truly love that you can wear this now (just layer on a few pieces such as tights and this gorgeous light jacquard jacket) and of course you can wear it all the way through spring too. It is even perfect for those cooler summer nights!
The olive green color is so versatile and can be paired with so many other colors (think light blue, turquoise blue, orange, blush pink, tan, etc etc). Dress this look up with a great pair of lace up heels or dress it down with boots, booties, or a pair of wedge sandals.
This romper is available in tall, regular, and petite sizes. I am wearing a "regular" size medium.
p.s how sweet is this gold druzy ring from Shop Wrenn! You may just notice that it is named after someone with the name Brooke. ;-) Definitely check out their gorgeous pieces and if you decide to pick up a piece or two, don't forget to use code "kbstyled" for a discount!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by...we are almost half way through the week, YAY!
Polka dots are always in and this top from the Who What Wear collection at Target is the perfect dot button up top! Dressed up or dressed down, as I've done with my favorite pair of boyfriend jeans, this top is a fun versatile addition to your closet.
I love how "smart" this look turned out just by adding a bowtie scarf and a great pair of leopard heels! What's not to love about a look (top, bowtie scarf, and denim) that you can put together for under $100?!
I recommend sizing down in the Who What Wear collection as it runs larger than TTS...I am wearing a XS in this top and a size 4 in the boyfriend jeans.
As always, thanks so much for stopping by and have a great start to your week!
Today's post is going to be short and sweet...you NEED, I mean NEED, this striped shirtdress! I was lucky to stumble upon this dress when browsing in Old Navy recently and I am so glad that I did, especially for the price!
I immediately fell in love with its slouchy relaxed fit and the overall chic yet easy vibe it puts off the minute I slipped it on.
You know when you have things in your closet that are just easy and no fuss...this dress is exactly that. A piece that I will be grabbing for time and time again.
Wear it with open toed booties for an early spring look, pair it with heels and a clutch for a night out, or with sneakers and a baseball hat for a trip to the soccer field on Saturday.
Are you in love with this shirtdress yet?! I think you may be even more in love when I tell you that it is ONLY $16!!!
p.s I am wearing a size small in this dress...it is intended to fit loosely!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by...have a great day!
If there is one color that I cannot get enough of this season, it is CAMEL! It is such a classic color that looks great on everyone. And this sweater poncho from Old Navy is one of my favorite purchases this season...p.s it is on SALE right now, YAY!
The options for pairing this sweater poncho with so many different colors is endless. I've worn this over a black & white striped long sleeve tee, over a a chambray top, over a grey tunic, over a marsala colored turtleneck and on and on.
Sometimes I am in a pinch and don't have the time to put a lot of thought behind my look before needing to be out the door. Or I just want to throw something together that is simple yet chic and put together. I find myself constantly grabbing for this poncho time and time again and you will too!
And let's talk about how COLD the weather is turning...winter has arrived and here in Nashville, it is now truly "sweater weather". This is the perfect poncho to layer up on those cold winter days.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful Friday! Cheers to a great weekend ahead!
