My Love for Julie Vos Statement Jewelry

I'll never forget the first time I discovered Julie Vos...I was looking for a gold link bracelet and as I searched I stumbled across an advertisement for Julie Vos, which immediately caught my eye.  I found myself on her website and was in such awe of her gorgeous statement pieces that I ended up spending an hour just looking at everything!

Ever since then, Julie Vos has become one of my absolute favorite jewelry designers and my collection continues to grow!  I wear her pieces all of the time, as you have probably noticed, and every time that I do, I always receive questions about the pieces and where I bought them.  I'm always so proud to share my love of Julie Vos with others because everyone NEEDS to know about  Julie and everyone NEEDS to have at least a few of her pieces (if not a full collection!)!

I was so lucky to meet Julie and the Julie Vos team while in New York during fashion week and it was so wonderful to learn more about her designs and the inspiration behind them.  Julie started her business a little later in life and she has turned her brand into a well recognized and much loved brand. Her pieces are one of a kind and they stand out from the rest!

With classic, chic, and elegant designs, Julie Vos has carved the way for statement jewelry pieces that will become pieces to pass down from generation to generation.  Think heirloom pieces that you will pass to your daughter and she on to hers.  I honestly cannot wait to be able to share some of my collection with Addison one day...I'm certain she will love them just as much as I do!

I recommend that you start your collection with some of Julie's bangles as you can layer and interchange many of her designs for the perfect stack.  The first bracelet that I started with was this Byzantine Hinge Cuff and this Lafayette Link Bracelet.  I knew this would be the perfect start to my collection and it has been.  Since then I have added a variety of Julie Vos bangle bracelets as I love to stack them or even wear just one or two!  I love the Monterey bangle...the price is perfect and it is one of my most layered bangles.

My love for her pieces grew so quickly so of course I have added statement rings, like this gorgeous Catalina statement ring to my collection, as well as classic every day earrings, like these beautiful Medici earrings or these Clara stud earrings, as well!

It's been a while since I graduated college (GO TIGERS...Clemson that is!) but I specifically remember graduating and being so uncertain about what my future may hold.  Going into college, I was so certain I knew what I wanted to do but as time passed, I became less and less confident.

I didn't have a job lined up right after graduation so I spent my summer working at a country club driving the beverage cart around serving golfers and working evening banquet events.  I did this while I job searched and interviewed for jobs.  I searched and searched and searched for "that perfect job".  Job offers came and went but I didn't accept my first job until many months after graduating when I started as a Store Analyst for the Cato Corporation, which is a women's apparel corporation based out of Charlotte, NC.

My first job came about because my Sister worked for the same company and she put in a referral for me.  Lucky for me...my Sister's connections helped me get my foot in the door.  Had I known then the importance of networking, I would have done more of that much sooner!

So today...I'm sharing some personal career advice to those who are graduating or to those who may need a little pep talk in their current career.  Vera Bradley and I teamed up for today's post...they asked and I answered!  Hope you enjoy reading and thank you for allowing me to offer some advice, tips, and guidance on the must have Vera Bradley pieces that every career woman should have!

CAREER ADVICE Q&A WITH VERA BRADLEY

Tell us a little about yourself!
“I’m Brooke Webb, the Editor and Creator of a top Nashville-based style, beauty and lifestyle blog, KBStyled! I live just south of Nashville, in Franklin, TN, with my husband, Peter, and our two children, Reins and Addison. Of course, I must mention our fur babies, too — Cali and Carolina. I grew up right outside of Charlotte, NC and graduated from Clemson University. For much of my career, I have worked for a Fortune 500 company as a Vice President, Corporate Recruiter, within Human Resources. A little over two years ago, I launched KBStyled as a platform to inspire other women and to encourage them to find their own personal style. Since then, KBStyled has become a destination for women of all ages to come for style inspiration, as well as fitness, beauty and lifestyle tips!”

What do you look for when selecting a bag for work?

“My ultimate work bag is a tote bag like the Ella Tote. My work bag must be a carryall that is large enough to carry my laptop and to-do list among all of my other workday necessities! It needs to be practical and functional with interior pockets, but most importantly, I must be able to carry it comfortably over my shoulder!”

What surprised you the most about working full-time after graduating?

“I found the long workdays and how tired I was at the end of each day the most surprising. It was quite the adjustment to go from maintaining a class, study and social schedule to managing a work schedule. I could no longer take naps in the middle of my day!”

What do you wish you had known when you were applying for your first job? 

“I wish I had known that networking plays such an important role in landing a great first job post-graduation. I thought I could do it all on my own and didn’t take the advice of some who encouraged me to network more. I job searched for a while before accepting an offer post-graduation — and the offer I ended up accepting came about through networking with an employee of the company that I was hired by.”

What tips would you give those still job hunting?

“Take your time, don’t settle and get on LinkedIn! It is tempting to rush and make a quick decision so you have a job lined up post-graduation, but there is nothing wrong with working part-time while you job hunt and interview for the right opportunity. Also, network, network, network! Consider joining a young professionals group in the city where you live and utilize social media to your advantage — you should absolutely have a LinkedIn account!”

What advice would you give to recent graduates about to enter their careers? 

“Work hard, always be on time and remain confident in your abilities!”

What is the most unusual thing you keep in your everyday bag?

“Baby wipes! Although our children are seven and five and we are well out of the diaper phase, I still carry baby wipes in my Mallory Satchel because I use them to wipe nearly everything down. They are perfect for gentle makeup touch-ups throughout the workday as well!”

Lastly, what would you say is your key to success?

“I’d say my key to success is maintaining a work-life balance. I’m able to compartmentalize my day — when I work, I’m dialed in with work and when I’m with my family, they’re my focus. If you don’t balance the many aspects of your life, one area will suffer more than another.”

Marigold Wrap Dress

I've got a new found love for yellow...ALL shades of yellow!  This marigold wrap maxi dress immediately caught my eye when shopping for our most recent vacation.  It is light, airy, and perfect for those warm summer days that are right around the corner.

The ruffle cold shoulder detail is adds such a feminine delicate touch as well.  Every dress I wear can typically be dressed for day and night.  Switch out wedge sandals for a pair of strappy heels (nude or even a punchy color like red or cobalt) and add a fun bold clutch for a summer evening look.

I recommend sizing up on this dress.  Anytime you purchase a wrap dress, I recommend sizing up to ensure you have plenty of material to wrap around and provide the right amount of coverage.  Because of the asymmetrical hemline of this dress and the higher slit, you may want to consider wearing a delicate short lace slip underneath.

The wedge sandals that I am wearing have more recently been my go-to pair of wedges and they are currently 30% off with code FRIEND, which puts them under $50...such a steal!

Baby Blue Off The Shoulder Top

We made it...IT'S FRIDAY!!!  Nothing excites more more than waking up on a Friday morning and knowing the weekend is only 8 hours away.  Cheers to a great weekend ahead everyone!

Today's look is simple...keeping it in the blue soft blue family with this adorable structured off the shoulder top and my all time favorite distressed boyfriend jeans (I LIVE in these jeans).  I've styled this look with my new favorite wedges (they are under $70 and so comfy) and of course some of my favorite Julie Vos accessories!  And if anyone has been looking for an initial necklace (I was on the hunt for the right one forever), you will love this one from Le Boutique Shop.

With the weather warming up quite a bit, this will be a spring go-to weekend look!

Red gingham with ruffles...this top gives me all the heart eyes!  There's something a little country about this top (all you Southern girls know what I mean) yet it is so modern and chic.  Gingham is trending this spring season and this top is the perfect transitional piece.  

Pair it with a great pair of white skinny jeans and strappy open toe heels for a night out or with some distressed denim shorts and a pair of sneakers (love these) for an even more casual dressed down look.  This top also comes in a black & white gingham.
