Gold Metallic "Justine" Moto Jacket

Photography by Madi Flournoy Henderson

To say that I'm smitten with this gold metallic moto jacket from Tart Collections is an understatement.  It is absolutely gorgeous!

The color of this jacket is a light gold, however it has a rose gold appearance which makes it stand out even more.  Because this jacket is a statement piece, you can easily pair it with more casual pieces or you can elevate your look even more by dressing it up.

I personally love it styled more casually but I also can't wait to wear it this spring over beautiful bohemian dresses.  It's an investment piece that's worth investing in because it will carry you from season to season!

If you aren't familiar with Tart Collections, I highly recommend that you check them out.  I've styled a few looks from their collection and I've been beyond pleased with the beauty and quality of their pieces.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and I wish you a great start to your week.  As always, thanks so much for stopping by!

COAT c/o || TOP c/o || DENIM c/o || HEELS c/o || WATCH c/o

I love pairing structured pieces like this button down bow knot top with something a little more fun like this gorgeous leopard print faux fur coat!

This structured top can be worn with denim for a more casual look and it can also be worn dressed up or even with slacks/a skirt for work.  And every gal should have a leopard print coat in their wardrobe.  As we all know, leopard has become a neutral and this type of coat can easily be worn with a casual look or dressed up...think night out on the town!

I'm also a big fan of a pop of color and these patent leather heels were just the right touch for this look!  And how gorgeous is this black on black mesh watch from Piper West?!  I'm totally obsessed and have been wearing it every day.  It's so chic!

Also wanted to tell you about an online boutique that I've recently gotten to know...PRIVILEGE Clothing!  They have some gorgeous minimalist pieces that are also unique and the gals behind this successful boutique are complete #GIRLBOSS babe so check them out when you have the time.  We recently recorded a podcast together and we dish on so many topics!  Their podcast is called #PRIVTALKS and you can find it in the app store...you may also listen to our podcast by visiting the link in their Instagram page (@styleforpriv).

Photography by Jennifer Glover of Carolina Girl Cooks

If you are looking for a healthy, quick, and easy recipe that's perfect for lunch, you must take note of this shrimp salad recipe.  With only a handful of ingredients, you can whip this up in no time and know that you are eating a meal that is packed full of nutritious goodness.  Jenn of Carolina Girl Cooks gets it right every time with these quick and easy meals.

You can also swap out the shrimp for diced cooked chicken breast or even rotisserie chicken if that is easier.  And to make sure you keep this recipe Whole 30 compliant, all you need to do is eliminate the sour cream and mayonnaise and use a simple homemade aioli instead.  I've included the aioli recipe HERE!

Which recipe or recipes have you tried so far?!  I'd love to hear which one has been your favorite as well.

As always, thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

A HEARTFELT EVENT WITH KENDRA SCOTT & THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION

Photography by Madi Flournoy Henderson

"I saw that you were perfect, and so I loved you.  Then I saw that you were not perfect and I loved you even more".  - Angelita Lim

When your child is born and everything on the outside is absolutely perfect...so much so that all you can do is sit and stare.  She is stunning to the eye with a head full of hair and piercing blue eyes.  She nuzzles up to you because you are familiar, your scent is what she knows, you are her safe place, your voice is music to her ears...and because she is yours and you are hers.  You are her MOM and that unconditional love and bond is stronger than ever.  It's magical...a moment in time that is unforgettable.

And then you are told that your child may not be so perfect on the inside.  That in fact, her tiny heart is less than perfect.  A heart with holes.  Something so brand new that was supposed to be whole and perfect...something was broken.  A tiny heart that has to work a little harder to function properly.  A heart that will ultimately have to be fixed.

This was our moment in time...when we learned that Addison's tiny little heart was less than perfect.  Our perfect baby girl was not whole...she would need to have her tiny little heart fixed in the near future.  She had to grow and mature enough to undergo a lengthy open heart surgery to make her heart whole again.  Her impending surgery was the heaviest dark cloud we have ever faced but surgery came and went and she is now a thriving 5 year old with a very special scar that will forever remind us of that tiny, now thriving, heart within our perfect little girl!

With this all being said and as you an imagine, The American Heart Association is a very near and dear cause to our family.  I am beyond exciting to be teaming up with Kendra Scott & The American Heart Association to host an event in Addison's honor and to kick off heart health awareness month, which kicks off in February.

Our event will take place on Thursday 1/26/17 from 5pm-8pm at the Nashville Kendra Scott store and 20% of all sales during our event will be donated to Nashville's American Heart Association chapter.  Also, there are certain pieces, including the "Addison" earrings (and those that I am wearing in today's post), that if purchased, an additional 20% will be donated!  Consider it a girls night out...there will be food, beverages, live music, and some other special touches!  I've included the invitation below for additional details.

If you don't live in the Nashville area but you wish to support this cause in honor of someone you may know (or in honor of our sweet girl), you may contact our local Nashville Kendra Scott store to order.  Ask to speak with Laura and she will be happy to assist you!

To Order:

"Addison" earrings or any other KS piece

If you do live in Nashville or the surrounding areas, I do hope you will join us for a very special evening.  I hope to see you there!

THANK YOU in advance for reading today's post and for any support you will provide in my mission to honor Addison and all others impacted by defects or heart disease.  If you wish to read more about Addison's story or more about how heart disease impacts so many women...can you read more HERE.  From my heart to yours...much love!

Denim, Tunic Sweater, & A Tote

Photography by Madi Flournoy Henderson

DENIM JACKET || SWEATER (SIMILAR HERE & HERE) || DENIM || BOOTS C/O || TOTE C/O

This look is one of my favorite go-to weekend looks!  The layers are perfect for the cold temps and it's a super comfortable look that's also practical when out with our kiddos & running errands.  The sweater that I'm wearing is a tunic sweater and all though sold out, I've found a similar one here and here.  Tunic sweaters are perfect for layering and everyone should have a couple in their wardrobe.

And this TOTE...I swoon every time that I carry it.  It's just absolutely stunning and although it is a bit of a higher price point, it is one of those totes that you will have for YEARS.  It's oversized style and shape offers a ton of room to carry all of your weekend essentials.  This would make a great carry on bag as well or even a quick over night bag if you don't pack your whole bathroom like I tend to do sometimes.  It's a great investment piece for sure!

So, what do you all have planned for the weekend?  It's a 3 day weekend for me, I have Monday off, and I couldn't be more excited!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful Friday!

Blush Bell Sleeve Sweater

Photography by Madi Flournoy Henderson

Bell sleeves are in and they are here to stay.  What I love most about this soft blush sweater is the subtle bell sleeve.  I also love that it is chunky, a bit oversized, and has a turtleneck.  Our winter months have officially kicked off in Nashville so sweaters and jeans is what I will be living in over the next few months.  In my opinion, the more cozy the better and this sweater gets an A+ for all of those reasons.

You may have noticed that I've been wearing this particular black pair of distressed jeans rather often and that's because I LOVE them.  They are super stretchy and very flattering.  They are more of a washed black versus a rich black, which gives them a more "worn in" appearance.

Are you living in sweaters and jeans this time of year too?

As always, thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!

Bacon Wrapped Chicken & Avocado Zoodles - Whole 30 Recipe

If the title of this post didn't make your mouth water, I'm not sure what will!  Anything with the word bacon or avocado in it reals me in EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!

One of my favorite recipes to make while on Whole 30 is The Wonky Spatula's Avocado Zoodles so Jenn of Carolina Girl Cooks and I teamed up to recreate this crowd pleasing favorite.  We've put our own twist on this recipe and instead of putting bacon in the zoodles, we've wrapped chicken breasts in bacon.

What I love about this slight tweak to such a great recipe is that the avocado zoodles are served as a side dish instead of the main feature of your meal.  They are such the perfect compliment to the bacon wrapped chicken.

Either way, you can't go wrong with this delicious combo!  Both the chicken and the avocado zoodles are simple and quick to make.  I love flavorful recipes that don't require a ton of work.

Let me know if you decide to make this one and what you think!  As always, thanks so much for stopping by...have a great day!

Ingredients

  • 4 small chicken breasts
  • 1 package of bacon (whole30/paleo compliant)
  • 4 small zucchinis or 2 large
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/2 tsp of garlic powder, divided
  • 2 Tablespoons of olive oil
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 Tablespoon of fresh parsley
  • 2 Tablespoons of water
  • salt and pepper
  • cherry tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup of pine nuts
  • *Special Equipment: Spiralizer

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  2. Rinse the chicken breasts under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Sprinkle both sides of each breast with a little salt, pepper and garlic powder.
  3. Wrap each piece of chicken with 3-4 pieces of bacon and place on the baking sheet.
  4. Bake the chicken for about 30 minutes or until the bacon has gotten crispy around the chicken. Remove from the oven and let it stand for a few minutes before slicing.
  5. While the chicken is baking, toast the pine nuts. Heat up a small skillet to medium heat and add the pine nuts. Toast just until they become brown and fragrant.
  6. Next, wash the zucchini and cut the tops and bottoms off each. Sprialize them into noodles. Choose whatever thickness of "noodle" you'd like. Sprinkle the zoodles with a tiny bit of salt and set them aside in a mixing bowl while you prepare the sauce.
  7. In a small food processor, add the avocado, parsley, 1/4 teaspoon of the garlic powder, olive oil, lemon juice, water and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Blend until it's a pourable sauce. Taste it to adjust the seasoning if need be. Pour about half of the sauce over the zoodles and toss to coat. Add more if you need more.
  8. To serve, plate 1/4 of the zoodles on a plate. Top with sliced cherry tomatoes and sprinkle with the toasted pine nuts. Slice the bacon wrapped chicken and serve on the side of the zoodles.
