Our pool opens this week and there is a lot of buzz and excitement in our home as we look forward to family Saturday's spent out by the pool! We will be wrapping up our spring activities soon (soccer, flag football, etc) so our Saturdays will shift from being on the go go go to swimming and enjoying lunch by the pool followed by a good Saturday nap!
One of my absolute favorite suits that I will be wearing this season is this suit from Kortni Jeane! I'm wearing their high waist bottom (which provides the right amount of coverage) and their adorable swing top! Kortni Jeane offers mix and match options...you pick the style of bottom that you like and the style of top that you like as well as the prints that you like. And they have the cutest prints as well!
Although this print that I am wearing is no longer available, they do have some adorable new options! I'm LOVING their swing top in the green metallic "scales" print paired with their high waist bottoms in purple!
Will you find yourself parked by the pool this summer?!
Wishing you all a WONDERFUL Saturday and thanks so much for stopping by!
I've never met a leopard print that I didn't like...truly. And there aren't too many jumpsuits that I've met that I didn't like either. Put the two together and sparks start flying...its love at first sight. Baukjen definitely had the right idea!
The fit of this jumpsuit is modern and structured yet super easy and relaxed. The material is soft and it is beyond comfortable to wear. Dress this jumpsuit up with heels or create a much more relaxed look with a top knot and a pair of flip flops. However you style it, you will have a modern chic look.
As always, thanks so much for stopping by. Happy Friday and I wish you all a great start to your weekend!
Every woman needs to have a handful of go-to essentials in their wardrobe. Pieces that are versatile and functional. Things that help you move with ease through your day.
One of my more recent wardrobe essentials is this lightweight khaki jacket (which is only $30 by the way). It is a grab and go piece, a piece that can be dressed up or dressed down and is perfect for layering. It is so lightweight and airy that you can wear it now for those warm days/cooler nights and then later in the year, layered over a sweater.
And one of my more recent accessory essentials is this amazing diaper bag from Charlotte and Asher. You may be scratching your head thinking..."did she just say diaper bag"?! Yes I did! Although our kiddos are well out of diapers I have still had a need for an amazing bag to tote around all of their "things" and this bag fits the bill. Having all of the bells and whistles of a diaper bag, I am able to stuff the pockets with their water bottles, snacks, crayons, toys, sunglasses, etc. I always carry around wipes as well and their coloring/activity books to keep them busy when we travel or when we are out to dinner. I basically keep this bag loaded with all of the things that our kiddos may need and it's easy to grab and go on our way out of the door! This bag is beyond stylish...carry it as a diaper bag or as a "kid" bag like me!
AND Charlotte and Asher has been so kind to offer my supporters 20% off with code "KBStyled". Mom's I can't tell you how much I rely on this bag to tote all of our kiddos things around in. And if you know an expecting Momma, pass this along as she will want to know about this diaper bag.
What are some of your essential wardrobe pieces?!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!
Whose ready to pack up and head out?! Two hands raised here!! We will be heading to Aruba in just a few short weeks and you can bet that we have a countdown going on in our home. Peter and I have always loved to travel and we try and make it a point (outside of our normal family vacations) to take a trip, just the two of us, each and every year. We traveled to Aruba last year and it was so wonderful, so we have decided to go back this year!
Since we travel a good bit, it was time to update some of our travel pieces. After all, several of our pieces of luggage have been around since I graduated college and let's just say that was a while ago. ;-) My parents actually gifted me a set of luggage for my college graduation and shortly after graduation we were off to Hawaii. As you can imagine, over the years, they've seen their fair share of travel and it was time for them to retire. As much as I hate to see them go, I'm excited to break in our new pieces.
Now this gorgeous carry on and garment bag from Jon Hart Design will never see a conveyor belt in their lifetime, but I can assure that they will be on many flights to some pretty fabulous destinations all the while staying right by my side.
The nude colors are so classic and the quality is EXCEPTIONAL! I also love that you can personalize each Jon Hart piece with your initials. There will be no mistaking whose luggage is whose!
Jon Hart's pieces make the perfect graduation gift and they are currently running their annual graduation sale too...something you should definitely check out.
Are you heading anywhere fun this summer?! I love to hear about other's travel plans...it's always fun to add places to my "must see" list!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

I can't say that I own many tie dye tops, but this one from Fab'rik Nashville is the BEST tie dye top I will ever wear! The oversized loose fit of this top lends to a super comfy feel and totally relaxed look. Throw it on with some distressed denim like these DL 1961 "florence" jeans or even a great pair of distressed denim shorts. I definitely channel my bohemian chic side when I wear this top...its a no fuss look and it feels so free!
Speaking of "free"...have you checked out Freebird by Steven boots? These boots/booties are a line by Steve Madden and they are so edgy and rocker chic. How amazing is the buckle detail of the boots that I am wearing?! If you live locally in Nashville...Freebird by Steven actually opened a retail store in the Green Hills Mall within the last couple of months...stop by there the next time you are there! They are right outside of Nordstrom!
By the way, feel free to call our local Fab'rik store here in Nashville (615-905-4124) if you love this tie dye top or even if you are looking for a great pair of new jeans like the ones I am wearing and they will take great care of you!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by...have a great day!
Mother's Day is right around the corner and I am so excited to share a very special little project that I have recently worked on. Akola reached out to me a few weeks ago asking if I'd like to be a part of their Mother's Day campaign to help spread the word about their mission and I immediately jumped on board.
KBStyled is a place where I hope to inspire you in one way or another and sharing amazing community causes is important to me to me as well. So I do truly hope that today's post inspires you to make a difference.
Now to share a bit about Akola and why you will want to familiarize yourself with them. Akola, which means "she works" is a social business that designs, produces, and sells jewelry (home goods too) globally within a nonprofit framework. Their focus is to network and partner with rural Uganda communities to empower, train, educate, and employ impoverished women in a way that enables each woman to start a business and provide for her family. Akola is currently working with 7 communities in Uganda and 2 in Dallas and they employ over 450 women...talk about believing in and empowering women!
These women are the backbone of this gorgeous Akola necklace that I am wearing in today's post. I am specifically wearing the "Adara" necklace. The time and the love that is put into each bead for each necklace is just absolutely incredible!
Here's a glimpse at how this necklace is made:
- An Akola Paperbead Roller (a Paperbead Roller is the job title that many of these women hold) takes long strips of printed paper and carefully handrails them around thin wire.
- Each bead is then coated in nontoxic gloss and then it is set aside later to be strung on a necklace by an Akola Jewelry Producter (another job title that these women hold)
**It takes 7-10 minutes for an Akola member to transform paper and gloss into ONE sophisticated bead. Talk about a process with lots of TLC involved!
As each woman creates necklaces like the "Adara" they are empowered to meet all of the basic needs of their family...lifting them up out of poverty and paving the way for a brighter future for generations to come. Through Akola, these women are able to provide healthy meals and clean drinking water to their children and elderly members that they care for. They also earn enough to send their children to school, provide basic healthcare, and secure a home.
Amina is the name of the Paper Bead Roller that made my "Adara" necklace. Amina is from Uganda and has 10 children. Through Akola, she has been able to build a house for family, which she moved into in November 2015. She aspires to start a garden and she will continue to educate her children and share food with the hungry.
If giving back and doing good is as important to you as it is to me...I encourage you to consider Akola as you plan for the gift you may give to a Mom in your life. Think of the difference you are making in the life of an impoverished woman (who is also a Mother) in Uganda.
You should also know that 100% of each Akola purchase is reinvested into Akola's mission to empower women in poverty...every cent contributes's to social business that provides women with dependable, living wage every month.
AND...Akola has been so gracious to offer YOU, my supporters and supporters of their mission, 30% off with code "BROOKE30".
I personally feel so much pride each and every time that I wear my beautiful necklace made for me by another Mom, Amina.
Thanks so very much for allowing me to share this very special cause with you!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!
Bon Voyage: used to express good wishes to someone about to go on a journey. Just thinking about the origin of this word makes me wish I was boarding a plane, train, or boat and hearing "Bon Voyage" as I set off to some amazing destination.
And if I were heading off on such a wonderful journey I would wear this "Bon Voyage" striped midi dress from Dainty Jewells. It is such a beautiful classy and timeless dress that makes me feel like I should be sitting outside of a small cafe in southern Italy with a basket full of fresh flowers and a cappuccino. Ahhhh, one can dream!
