Off The Shoulder Velvet Dress

Photography by Madi Flournoy Henderson

It's only Halloween...Happy Halloween by the way, but I can't help but think ahead to the upcoming holidays when wearing this midnight blue Donna Morgan velvet dress.  It just screams holiday parties!

Let's be honest, the holidays will be here before we know it and for once I feel like I will actually be more prepared than I've been in years past.  I'm motivated to go ahead and get my Christmas shopping done and to have plenty of holiday party outfit options in my closet.

What I love most about this velvet dress is the deep midnight blue color and the off the shoulder fit.  The bell sleeves are also a beautiful touch.  I styled this dress with a closed toe heel but I recommend styling this dress with a gorgeous open toe heel or strappy heel for your holiday parties.    Because of its solid color, this dress is a blank slate so get creative and don't be afraid to add other jewel tone pieces like this gorgeous jeweled clutch!

We will be heading out tonight to trick or treat with Darth Vader and a black cat!  It's still hard to believe that today is Halloween...October flew by.  Now if time would just slow down so we can enjoy these next few holidays.

As always, thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a great start to your week!

Faux-Suede Trim Cardigan

Photography by Madi Flournoy Henderson

A sweater worth obsessing over...I can't get enough of this faux-suede trim cardigan from New York & Company.  This cardigan is so chic and the details are just gorgeous...from the pockets, to the zipper trim, to the buttons on the collar, I love everything about it.

This cardigan sweater is perfect worn alone or it is a great piece for layering too!  Wear it zipped and buttoned up like I have done or wear it as an open cardigan over top of another top.  Either way, this cardigan is sure to keep you warm and looking fabulous throughout Fall & Winter.

Even better, this sweater cardigan is currently on sale for under $60...such a STEAL!  Many of New York & Company's sweaters are currently on sale.  Did you see my post on Wednesday featuring a gorgeous pink cable-knit sweater from New York & Co?!  That sweater is also on sale...view my post HERE!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by...I hope you all have a wonderful Friday!

Pink Cable-Knit Sweater - New York & Company

Photography by Madi Flournoy Henderson

Now that temps are finally cooling off in Nashville, I'm able to start cozying up in my sweaters!  Each year I typically buy 3-4 new sweaters (well, let's be honest, it's probably more than that) and I'm always looking for those sweaters that are chic yet super cozy.

When I think of wearing sweaters I can't help but think about the holidays and cozying up near a fireplace.  Sweaters resonate with the many memories I have spending Fall & Winter days cozied up at home with family...especially during the holiday season.

Although I tend to buy ivory, black, and grey sweaters time and time again, I was thrilled to recently have picked up this pink cable-knit sweater from Eva Mendes' collection at New York & Company!  It's the perfect shade of pink and I love the oversized chunky knit sweater material.  The cowl-neck is perfect for a little added warmth and I love the chunky cable-knit design.

This Eva Mendes collection sweater is great for dressing down with jeans or you can dress it up with a piece like this gorgeous Eva Mendes pencil skirt!  For a size reference, I am wearing a small...I could have gone down to an extra small because it does run a little bit big BUT, I like my sweaters a little bit more oversized.

New York & Company has such a gorgeous selection of sweaters and many of them are on sale right now!  Now would be a great time to stock up for yourself but also check some ladies off of your holiday shopping list!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by!

Whistlewood Chiffon Maxi Dress - Shabby Apple

Photography by Madi Flournoy Henderson

Of course I love jeans, sweaters, boots, and scarves this time of year but I also love a gorgeous Fall maxi dress.  Shabby Apple has some of the most gorgeous dresses and this Whistlewood chiffon dress is a showstopper.  Toughen up this feminine dress with a moto jacket or wear it on it's own.  I also absolutely LOVE their Winter Bouquet maxi dress!

Today's post is short...we arrived home from celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary in Vegas over the weekend so I'm a bit tired.  We had the best time and Peter had so many wonderful surprises for me while we were there...a weekend that I will always cherish!

Hope you all had a great weekend as well?!  Thanks so much for stopping by today...I have some fun posts planned so stay tuned.  Have a great start to your week.

LC Lauren Conrad Velvet Blazer

Photography by Madi Flournoy Henderson

Velvet has made a comeback and in a BIG way!  From velvet blazers, to velvet tops, skirts, dresses, shoes...you name it, it's all about VELVET.  This is a huge trend this season and I'm completely on board.

This gorgeous velvet blazer from Lauren Conrad's runway collection for Kohl's is absolutely stunning.  I love the boyfriend blazer fit and it's perfect for dressing down as I've done for today's look or dressing up...think satin dress or a sleek black dress paired with this blazer for a night out!  You can truly make this blazer look as casual or as dressy as you would like.

I love this blazer so much that I had to return to Kohl's.com and buy it in the "wine" color as well.  My mind immediacy trails off to holiday parties!

If you can't quite commit to a velvet blazer or aren't so sure about jumping into this trend...try something like a velvet heel first and see what you think!

Have you boarded the velvet train or are you still standing at the train station?!

p.s today is our 10 year wedding anniversary...YAY!  We are off for a weekend getaway...excited to share more soon!!!

Lord & Taylor Friends & Family Sale

Photography by Madi Flournoy Henderson

Who else loves a great sale?!  I personally love shopping sale events and when they are as good as the Lord & Taylor Friends & Family sale, I just can't resist.  I've teamed up with Lord & Taylor to help spread the word about their biggest sale of the year...think 25% off almost everything + 10% off cosmetics and fragrance.

Sale events are a great time to pick up items that have been on your wish list and because the holidays are right around the corner, it is also a great time to go ahead and check some people off of your list!  We all know those lists can get rather long and if you are anything like me, I like to get my shopping done before the holiday rush ensues.

We don't have a Lord & Taylor here in Nashville so I shopped online, which I often times prefer anyway!  And because Lord & Taylor offers free shipping for orders over $99 and free returns, I felt even more confident picking pieces online.  I was beyond pleased with the pieces that I ordered!

I had been looking for the most perfect bomber jacket and I immediately fell in love with this Design Lab Patched Bomber Jacket.  I adore the patches...they remind me of some of my favorite emojis!  I have also been on the hunt for a great pair of black distressed skinny jeans and I was immediately drawn to these Design Lab Distressed Skinny Jeans.  These jeans fit a little higher on the waistline, which I like, and they are soft and slightly stretchy for a comfortable fit.  The hemline of these jeans are frayed, which elevates them even more.

I also purchased this gorgeous Cold Shoulder Knit Sweater in "shiitake", this Asymmetrical Plaid Jacket, and this Corduroy Skirt.

So who will you be shopping for?!  Maybe a couple of things for yourself?!  Believe me, it's almost impossible not to treat yourself when such an amazing sale is going on.  Let me know what you are loving from the Lord & Taylor Friends & Family sale!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Fall Styling Tips With Zappos & Coach

*Thank you to my friends at Zappos.com & Coach.  All opinions are 100% my own.

Photography by Madi Flournoy Henderson

A couple of weeks ago I shared with you all that I had an amazing shopping experience with Zappos.com when I picked out a couple of new gorgeous Coach bags.  You can read more about my experience HERE!  My first post was about my experience picking my Swagger 27 bag, which has become one of my favorites, and today's post is about my Coach Chelsea Crossbody and why I consider it to be a must have for your Fall fashion wardrobe.

The Chelsea Crossbody is classic, sleek, and very stylish...with its effortless style, it easily becomes a staple.  It is the perfect size to fit all of your essentials comfortably and the grey color is a neutral that can be worn with everything.  Just like the Swagger 27 bag, the strap can be removed so you can carry this bag with the top handle or on your shoulder.  I personally love the strap because I like to be handsfree and I like to be able to wear it as a crossbody bag.

I highly recommend that you have a great neutral bag in your Fall wardrobe.  Just like any other addition to your wardrobe, it is important to update your accessories each season as well.  Nothing makes me feel more polished and put together than a beautiful classic handbag.

The Chelsea Crossbody is one of those bags that can be worn with just about everything.  This Fall, pair it with a great pair of boyfriend jeans, a sweater, and some booties, carry it as your every day bag to and from the office, or dress it up for an evening out.  I'll personally be styling this bag with a variety of looks this season!

If you haven't taken the time to shop Zappos.com and check out their Coach bag selection, I encourage you to as I know you will be just as pleased as I have been!

How would you style the Chelsea Crossbody bag?!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you have a great start to your week!

Nambé Fine Jewelry At Macys

*Collaboration supported by Macy's and Shopping Links.

Photography by Madi Flournoy Henderson

I learned about Nambé shortly after Peter and I got engaged in 2006.  We had our first wedding shower and we received several beautiful pieces of Nambé.  At the time I remember talking about it with several other women, many of which had started their own Nambé collection and I couldn't wait to have my own and luckily I do!

Nambé has been around for over 60 years and their commitment to timeless beauty, artistic integrity, and compromising quality is evident in their dinnerware, serveware, barware, home decor, gift items and now fine jewelry!

Their fine jewelry is just as sleek, timeless, and beautiful as all of their other pieces.  When asked to partner with Macy's to pick out a piece from the Nambé' fine jewelry collection, I was super excited to add another piece to my collection.

I chose the Nambé' "Multi-Band Ring in Sterling Silver".  This ring is even more gorgeous in person.  When wearing it, I feel like I am wearing a one of a kind piece...something that I will have for years and years.

Nambé's fine jewelry collection is available at Macys.com.  If you love Nambé' as much as I do, I'm certain you will also love their fine jewelry!  I'd love to hear what you think!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by, have a great day!

One-Of-A-Kind Art by Nashville Artist Lizzy Ragsdale

Photography by Madi Flournoy Henderson

It's pretty amazing to see how a connection with one friend creates a connection with a new friend.  People come into your life for a reason and it's amazing to see how those connections come to be.

One of my sweet friends introduced me to Lizzy Ragsdale and I'm so happy that she did!  Lizzy is a local Nashville Artist who creates one-of-a-kind paintings...a piece that is tailored specifically to fit your vision.

Lizzy and I began chatting many months ago and at the time we (my family) were in transition.  We knew that we were going to be moving, however we did not know where we would end up settling nor did we know what our home would look like.  I had lots of ideas and a vision for our new home but it was hard to see those ideas through until we actually laid eyes on what is now our beautiful new home.

As a young family, we never truly invested in any artwork for our previous homes.  We had a few things but nothing of significant meaning or of any real value.  We actually ended up parting with most everything before buying our new home...we wanted a fresh start.

I knew from my initial conversations with Lizzy, and after visiting her website to review some of her work, that a one-of-a-kind painting of hers was just what our future new home would need.  So once we got settled in our new home and brought in a few pieces, such as our living room rug, I reconnected with Lizzy and we picked back up where we left off.  It was time to move forward with having her create a piece of art for us!

We started talking about colors, etc and I shared a few pictures of our living room rug knowing that I wanted to tie in some of the colors from this rug as well as neutral colors to match the surrounding environment.  I knew Lizzy would take my feedback and create a masterpiece, which she did!

I am in love with our one-of-a-kind painting that was created just for our home.  I haven't named it, maybe Lizzy has, but I can tell you that every time I look at our painting I think about God's beautiful creations and how amazing He is.  It makes me think of those many moments that I've personally looked up at the sky to see pinks, golds, and blues as the sun sets...those moments of peace and reflection.  Those moments where I'm reminded of how great God is.  These are the feelings that our painting evokes...it's just perfect.

So if you are looking for a unique, beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece of art for your home or even as a gift for someone else, I highly recommend that you consider working with Lizzy Ragsdale.  She truly understands her client's vision and makes it come to life on canvas!  I'm such a huge fan and I'm sure we will be adding additional pieces of her art to our home in the future.

As always, thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!
